"Happy Breath"

When I FINALLY learned to meditate, ⠀
{ I had been on the spiritual path for years, but never took the time to actually PRACTICE meditation! }⠀
Things started to shift for me, in a big way! ⠀
☁️I could shift states (mental/emotional) more quickly ⠀
☁️I started to enjoy the small moments MORE~ without as much mental chatter clouding it⠀
☁️I wasn’t as attached to my problems & could shift out of negative states more easily & quickly⠀
☁️I was more aware of my thoughts and emotions AS thoughts and emotions, not as some “truth” about me or my experience (I was more ‘detached’ from them, while still feeling & observing them) ⠀
☁️I felt happier⠀
☁️I felt FREE (from inside!) ⠀
The main meditation technique that helped me make these shifts is: Anapana Meditation, or what I call “happy breath” ✨⠀
This is a SIMPLE technique that you can practice ANY TIME~ sitting in meditation, walking around in your daily life, laying in bed at night. ⠀
✨I recommend sitting and practicing in meditation- to really get the hang of it first!✨⠀
You simply focus on the breath flowing in and out of your nostrils.⠀
That’s it.⠀
You notice thoughts, feelings, sensations, sounds, that may arise. You take note of them. You return to the sensation of the breath. ⠀
Once I learned (and PRACTICED) this,⠀
I found that focusing on the breath actually brought me great comfort!⠀
It made me feel instantly HAPPY, calm and at ease! ⠀
I naturally began calling it “happy breath” because that’s how it made me feel! ⠀
If I felt mentally or emotionally ‘stuck’, upset, worried, etc... I began to tune in with the breath. ⠀
Remembering, feeling and realising that everything truly was okay, when i had this moment connecting with the “happy breath”⠀

Over time,⠀
This continued practice allowed me to more naturally move into these happier, calmer states & maintain them without really needing to try or focus on it as much! ⠀
Because~ rather than repeating the worries or concerns that I previously would have fed myself, with this practice I was REWIRING my brain to remember & experience HAPPINESS, CALM & PEACE more often instead! ⠀
It became automatic!⠀

Paradise is a frame of mind & an energy, which you can step into in any moment you choose!✨

You could be sitting in the most perfect surroundings, with nothing but beauty around you— yet still be disconnected from the paradise around and within.

I’ve experienced this many times!!

A thought, a worry, a belief that something is missing or lacking in this moment~ will disconnect you from the paradise of now!

Or: You could be sitting in a boring, dark room~ and yet be in a blissful experience of paradise!

It’s all about perception & perspective.

Realistically, it’s about taking moments to remind ourselves that~

✨there is nothing lacking in this moment.✨

One way to tune in with your inner paradise is to connect with the breath.

This is something that is with you always and you can tune in with in literally any moment.

Feel the breath coming in and out of your nose. Experience the sensation and allow it to be, without controlling or changing it.

This is called Anapana Meditation. (Simply noticing the sensations of the breath).

With practice, you can feel the bliss that is literally infused into every one of your breaths~ because our breath is what gives us life and brings Prana into the body! ✨

You can be totally at peace & happy with your breath, in any moment you choose!

This is real paradise ~ as it is not dependent on anything external, and ALWAYS exists within— waiting for you to tap into :)

Another form of breathing practice is called Pranayama.

Pranayama is the Yogic Practice of breath control✨

This practice has helped me ground into my body, release stress & feel more at peace every day!

You can start with 1:2 ratio breathing, (exhale is double the inhale) which relaxes your nervous system and brings you more calm, peace & centredness.🤍

The app I use is called “Pranayama”, with the free version being “Pranayama Lite” (for iPhone)
